When You Prefer To Do Something Else

…because defending government actions might be the most difficult assignment to accomplish

A MAGA miss, who works for the U.S. government, left no doubt to her true aspirations: she wants to be a social media star, and so badly that she shares videos of herself posing and dancing in her OOTD. But that is the least of McLaurine Pinover’s problems. It is when and where those reels were filmed. According to reporting by CNN, Ms Pinover allegedly recorded those novice performances during office hours and in the cosy comfort of her work place. Her in-office reels are then shared on Instagram; they also allows her take a commission from sales made through the associated links she shares for her followers to visit so they may make purchases of those pieces she wears so MAGA-ficently.

This fervent showing-off on Instagram happened while scores were fired from their jobs and turned away from their offices in a nationwide trimming of federal workforce, initiated by the department of government efficiency (DOGE), which is headed by billionaire Elon Musk. Ms Pinover is reported to be the “chief spokesperson” for the office of personnel management (OPM). According to CNN, it “oversaw the layoffs of thousands of federal workers and pressed others to justify their positions.” The irony is not lost that there are government employees—such as Ms Pinover herself —who have lost jobs for no real reason, while Ms Pinover gets to keep hers, as she puts her smartphone’s camera to good use in her OPM office, in Washington D.C., filming her in everyday wear that she hashtagged “#professionalfashion”.

The influencer-wannabe, with 800 followers, quickly deleted her IG account after CNN reached her for comment. We have not able to see for ourselves how talented or stylish she is, only from the CNN news report. The dancing talent looks remarkably clerical in her choice of clothes, perhaps to reflect how desk-bound her job really is. She favours safe separates that could be described as office—but not necessarily professional—wear. There are also posts of her seated at her desk, not busy working, but putting on make-up. Most of her posts show her modelling looks that, presumably, her followers would consider the height of fashion, and love for their relatability. The woman clearly needs a high-profile job, one that would allow those in the White House to notice how strikingly well-dressed she is.
