Those wishing, you’ve got it
Apple and Issey Miyake, as you probably know, go back a long way. Every fashion trivia guru worth his salt would know that it was the Miyake Studio that made the late Steve Jobs personal “uniform”, the black turtleneck pullover that he wore with remarkable regularity. Now, the partnership between the two brands is back and finally centres on an Apple product—the iPhone. What we have is the iPhone Pocket (not to be confused with the Comme des Garçons Pocket concept store/corner), a wearable slip case for Apple’s best-selling product.
Apparently, the iPhone Pocket is based on Issey Miyake’s most-known design concept, A Piece of Cloth (which has spawned the APOC line and attendant products) and draws from Pleats Please use of plissé. The bag is essentially flat, pleated, and elongated, with a split opening, lengthwise, in the middle. Available in various colours, the ‘pocket’ is where you accommodate your iPhone. As the pleats do allow the fabric to stretch out, they permit phones of various sizes to sit comfortably in the Pocket. That could mean that it could be used with any phone that does need the iOS to work. Let’s see. Google Pixel 10 Pro?
