For Your Bag

It is not a monster, but it sure can dangle somewhere on your bag

It is hard to know for sure if this Baggu dangler is a horse since it is missing a tail, but, to us, it is totally equine. Sure, it is not the Little Pony either or Angus the Shire steed from Brave, but it is not without its, er, charm. We spotted this cute (now, in the wake of the popularity of Labubus, a very subjective word) wearable at The Editor’s Market, a long-time stockist of the bag brand. And when we picked it up, we realised that it’s, in fact, a bag, and a very practicable one too.

Right on top of the horse’s back is a zip. Pull it open and inside is a cavity that is wide and deep enough for a lipstick or lipgloss. That’s it. Squeezing a credit card inside is impossible. A couple of two-dollar bills rolled up would not have a hard time getting in there. But we suspect that the average user will not employ it as a holder of whatever personal effects that need a dedicated case. There is a tab right in the middle, next to the zip, and a circular carabineer is attached. This horse is destined to adorn bags. Or, if you’re creative, be a Christmas ornament.

It is made of “59% recycled heavyweight nylon” according to the brand and available in two other solid colours: black and ‘mahogany’. The gingham is the only horsey bag that is patterned, and we think it’s the most fetching. Horses make delightful charms because they condense some of humanity’s most cherished ideals—power, freedom, and partnership—into a universally recognizable and aesthetically graceful form, which isn’t the case with other fang-baring monsters.
