Does your candy-on-a-stick need to have its own protective case? Chupa Chups and Fendi seem to think so
We hang countless danglies on our bags. And we don’t only mean the likes of Loewe’s leather charms (especially the customisable ones), but also whatever many girls—and boys—love to dangle from the handles/straps of their bags, including little stuffed toys (Pikachu!) or—one of our favourites—Scrabble tiles! Most of these items have really very little or no practical value. You hang them because you think they look good, or cute. Unlike, say, the twilly, which has a protective function for bag handles other than making the latter look more attractive. But now, there is something to hang on bags, big or small, that could really be functional—the Chupa Chups X Fendi lollipop holder. Seriously.
The unlikely collaboration (and no other is more high/low than this) has yielded a usable but unnecessary product: a case—in leather no less—to house your Chupa Chups. Each comes in the unmistakable shape of a lollipop, which means that the entire candy and the stick to which it is attached to can fit in it. The globular part of the case comes apart into two (and is hinged) for easy storage of your 棒糖 (bangtang or stick candy). Attached to the upper half is a cord that can be looped on handles or straps of your bag. As you many not carry only one lollipop, a trio of them might make for a more attractive grouping, as Fendi touts. But does a stick of Chupa Chups—S$2.86 for a pack of eight at Fairprice—really need a SGD820 holder to stay close to you? Or is that a stupid question?
Fendi lollipop holder charm is available in Fendi stores. Each piece comes in a box that includes a pack of five Chupa Chups, with a wrap that sports the Fendi monogram and the sweet’s logo. Photo: Fendi
