Already expected. Now, LV has confirmed that Blackpink’s Lisa would be the brand’s newest ambassador
Better grab them fast. It is not known when Pranpriya ‘Lisa’ Manoban signed with Louis Vuitton to be the brand’s new face, but we have already guessed that she would. LV has just confirmed that she is their girl. In a statement to the media, Nicolas Ghesquière enthused: “I am very excited to welcome Lisa as a house ambassador.” There was no mention of her previous role at Celine. Mr Ghesquière added, “She has a daring spirit and charisma that I find incredibly compelling. She is as bold and creative with her music as she is with her fashion, and it is a privilege to accompany her on this journey.” Lisa was as effusive in what she would be doing for LV: “I feel so honored to be working with such a great brand that I admire,” she told Elle. There was no mention of her alleged romance with LVMH scion Frédéric Arnault, presently the CEO of LVMH Watches. Many observers were sure the relationship would land her a role with LV.
But whether the young Arnault’s appearance in Lisa’s life implied an upcoming LV partnership, she already dropped a not-at-all-subtle hint of what was afoot when she sang in her newest single Rockstar: “tight dress, LV sent it. Oh shit, Lisa reppin’”. The accompanying video generated some controversy around the top Lisa wore in the MV. These days, if not for brand mention in a song, there would be actual product placement in music videos. Lisa’s group mate Jisoo, in the music video—supposedly fan-generated, using A1—of her latest track Kung Kung, not only held up an unmistakable bottle of Miss Dior to the camera, she spritzed its contents towards the camera too, making sure she was not holding up a mere dummy (it still could be!). But if you are more into the audio, Lisa’s mention of LV in the forth verse of the track might be more effective at brand awareness. It really came out of her mouth. She was not just saying it, she was not just rapping it. She was confirming it. And better if it came from the horse’s mouth.
