New Era comes to the rescue
Although you hardly see people carrying hat boxes here, they are something that exists. In fact, there are receptacles for all manner of headwear if the latter needs good housing or protection when they are unworn or, more likely, being transported. We know of the helmet bag—although these days, they are mostly used as a regular tote. More common, perhaps, are the motorbike helmet bags; they are still used as they are intended to. But what about a bag for caps—those headwear that you’d basically throw around or grab one when you need to go out to buy fish ball noodles and the sun is punishing? Well, as it turns out, there is a bag for that too.
New Era, the popular cap brand (although to be sure, they make apparel and bags too) and Yohji Yamamoto collaborator, offers a cap bag that comes with a handle, set between two D-rings, in case you wish to add a strap (not included) to go cross-body with it. The 2Pack Cap Carrier, as the brand calls it, looks like a mini backpack. When you open it, retainer straps keep the top upright. The bag looks capacious enough to hold more than one cap (stacked), and it sure looks like it will keep the content it guards in good shape at the end of the journey. With caps selling at a three-figure high, such as New Era’s 59Fifty style conceived with Fear of God (going for above S$100, or those special-editions at MLB), a dedicated bag is not too much to ask for, although for the more practical—or prudent—you can just keep the cap on your head.
